Call for Proposals on Cultural Influences in Regulatory Capture

The Tobin Project and the Social Science Research Council’s Scholarly Borderlands Initiative are soliciting graduate student proposals for research projects that address how cultural factors may contribute to regulatory capture in the United States. Successful applicants will receive funding for short-term, ethnographic research on “regulatory-adjacent spaces” or other projects that address the role of cultural connections in creating undue special interest influence over government regulation. The resulting research will investigate possible pathways of influence, as well as consider implications for efforts to prevent regulatory capture.
