On May 21 and 22, the scholars contributing to the forthcoming Tobin Project volume on The Corporation and American Democracy met in Cambridge to share their research findings and workshop drafts. In discussions moderated by the editors and Tobin staff, contributors and respondents engaged in lively debates over the significance of the shift from special to general incorporation, the regulatory dimensions of the corporate income tax, and the advent of New Deal-era corporate liberalism. In the months to come, the scholars will continue developing their research and refining their chapters to cohere around the central themes of the volume, with the leadership of editors Naomi Lamoreaux and Bill Novak.
