May 2009: Tobin Project scholars respond to the Financial Product Safety Commission proposal

In May, the Tobin Project asked five scholar-experts from varying diciplines to respond to Elizabeth Warren's (Harvard Law School) proposal for a Financial Product Safety Commission (FPSC), which has been introduced in Congress. Responses from Daniel Carpenter (Harvard University, Government), Tamara Draut (Demos), Robert Litan (Brookings Institution), Travis Plunkett (Consumer Federation of America), and Katherine Porter (University of Iowa School of Law) offered expert insight to policymakers on the potential implementation of an FPSC. The Tobin Project disseminated this document to key lawmakers in Congress and the Administration to provide additional perspectives as the proposal began to gain steam.
