Opportunities

As part of the 2013 MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions, the Tobin Project will convene thought-leaders across academia, business, and government to explore new directions in social science research that are urgently needed to better serve society.

We seek a Senior Fellow to spearhead this unprecedented effort.

About the Fellowship

This unparalleled opportunity will allow a Senior Fellow to devote one year to make a significant difference in the way scholarship serves our society. Reporting directly to the Tobin Project’s President, David Moss of Harvard Business School, the Senior Fellow’s primary responsibility will be to devise and implement a plan to convene preeminent thinkers from across the country who will together pioneer new directions for strategic research in the social sciences. The Fellow will work with the Tobin Project’s Executive Team and will serve for one year with a significant stipend and benefits. The ideal candidate is a passionate, strategic leader and thinker; a creative, entrepreneurial problem solver; and a sophisticated, cogent, and persuasive communicator. She or he must care deeply about the power of social science to address society’s most pressing challenges.

Candidates should possess: (1) proven ability to define and implement strategy; (2) excellent written and oral communication skills; (3) experience engaging with leaders in business, government, academia, or the nonprofit sector; (4) the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, mission-driven environment; (5) the capacity to understand cutting-edge academic research across multiple disciplines; (6) exceptional attention to detail; and (7) an MPP, MPA, MBA, JD, EdD, PhD or at least 4 years of advanced academic or professional training.

To Apply

The Fellow will be expected to start in Summer 2013. The application deadline is April 15, however applications will be reviewed as received and candidates are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible. A cover letter, resume, and two writing samples should be e-mailed to fellowship@tobinproject.org
